Assassin’s Creed IV : Black Flag Ahoy!

Kotaku have come across some very interesting tidbits of news for what sounds like a new Assassin’s Creed game. Subtitled ‘Black Flag’, Assassin’s Creed 4 may very well see you take on the role of a pirate captain sailing the Caribbean seas.

Assassin’s Creed 3 did dabble in naval warfare, but the thought of freely exploring the sea, pillaging villages, and plundering other ships, is a compelling idea.

There is a large land mass in the middle of the game map, which leads us to believe that there will still be a good deal of more traditional Assassin’s Creed gameplay included, so fans of the series so far should still be happy.

If Ubisoft can get the atmosphere right, with quiet times on the waves interspersed with action on the high seas, this could be something really special. We would imagine a holiday 2013 release would seem sensible, but no word on whether this would be current gen, next-gen, or both like Watch Dogs.

  1. I felt ready to wash my hands of the AC saga if they were to bring back Connor, but since the sea-battles were some of the most enjoyable parts of 3 I can see this one pulling me back in.

    • @Ben Webster VA  I would like them just to stick with the era and drop all the future stuff altogether
